Officials with Gaithersburg, Maryland-based CNSI have announced that their efforts to avoid potential legal action against the State of Louisiana have concluded with the state’s abrupt refusal to continue discussions in a spirit of cooperation and good faith.

Attorneys representing CNSI were finally granted a meeting with state officials on Monday, after repeated attempts to engage the state in “a formal and business-like discussion” of the issues at stake in the state’s cancellation of CNSI’s contract, according to Kathryn Harris, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for CNSI. Monday’s discussions yielded no meaningful result and CNSI was informed of the state’s decision not to continue discussions in a letter received by CNSI attorneys late on Thursday.

“We are disappointed by the state’s continued intransigence in working toward a business-like resolution of this matter. Although the State had indicated a willingness to consider serious discussions, the state’s response is very much in line with their stonewalling throughout this process and their on-going failure to honor repeated public records requests for documents they claim will justify their cancellation of our contract, ” said Harris.

She continued, “In light of the response from the state’s legal counsel, and the State’s continued evasiveness in this matter, CNSI will aggressively pursue all legal remedies in order to be justly compensated for the State’s improper cancellation and to protect our corporate reputation, which the state has repeatedly impugned by its unsubstantiated allegations. This decision, coupled with a refusal to provide requested documents, reflects an unprecedented lack of transparency and leaves the State residents with an antiquated and costly system managed by a vendor that the State long ago deemed ill equipped for the job.”
