Editors on London’s famed Fleet Street called them “hatches, matches and dispatches,” referring to the daily record of birth, marriage, death and divorce. In the vocabulary of the bureaucracy, they’re known as vital statistics, and New Hampshire is leading the nation in making them available to the general population on a user-friendly website that’s in the middle of a $210,000 upgrade paid for by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
