Information-technology provider CNSI has been selected by the Census Bureau to provide software development and support for its system that collects, processes and maintains enormous amounts of data. The nine-year, $5.8 million contract continues a relationship that began in 1997 between Rockville-based CNSI and the Census Bureau.

CNSI will support the Census Bureau's regional office survey control system, which is used by more than 7, 000 staff members to manage data collection activities such as reviewing workloads, assigning cases to field representatives and tracking survey progress. Privately held CNSI will create, test and support software applications for new and existing surveys. The company, founded in 1994, also developed and supported IT systems for the 2000 Census.
