National Nuclear Security Administration
CNSI’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) contract supported the Office of the Chief Information Officer’s (OCIO’s) vision of the NNSA IT Enterprise, characterized by efficient, organizational units who freely share information, implemented technologies and the associated cost savings. CNSI, provided the full suite of IT services required, including; System Analysis, Development, Operations and Maintenance, and Deployment and Field Support; System Architectures and Framework; Facility and Operations Support; Information System Security; Technology Assessments and Modernization; and Other Specialized Support as required. As part of the EES A-76 team, CNSI provided similar support.
For the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Nevada Test Site, we designed and provisioned a partially diverse, fully redundant (2 x 45 Mbps) microwave path utilizing licensed radio frequencies to improve information services at the remote Yucca Mountain facility.
This work involved:

  •  Identification, provision and installation of necessary network and RF equipment
  •  Software to implement the required network connectivity
  • Facilities/ communications shelters, equipment racks and air conditioning at each hub site
  • Primary and backup power sources and UPS systems
  • Physical network cabling and conduit, including trenching in very remote areas
  • Implementation of a secure data transmission with traffic encrypted using a 256-bit AES algorithm and wireless transmission using Generic Routing Encapsulation tunnels and remote monitoring and remote operation capabilities
  • A FISMA audit with remediation of any detected issues and test and certification of the all installations and all connections
