National Healthcare Expert Verlon Johnson Joins CNSI as Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy

McLean, VA – November 9, 2020 – CNSI, a leading business solutions provider in developing and delivering innovative health information technology solutions, announced today that Verlon Johnson, a nationally recognized expert in healthcare programs and policy, has joined the company. Johnson will serve as Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy, where she will play a critical role in helping to develop and implement CNSI’s growth strategy. Johnson comes to CNSI with extensive Medicaid and Medicare experience, and healthcare expertise in state, federal, and commercial healthcare markets.

Prior to joining CNSI, Johnson served as Vice President, Health Care Policy and Program Management for IBM Watson Health’s Government Health and Human Services business group. At IBM, she managed a portfolio of projects totaling more than $50 million and provided strategic direction for innovation and improvements to Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance through financing, payment incentives, quality, and value-based care design consulting services.

Before joining IBM Watson Health, Johnson had 23 years of experience at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Most recently, she served as CMS Associate Consortium Administrator and Deputy to the Consortium Administrator for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Operations. Johnson also held several other leadership roles at HHS and CMS, including serving as the interim HHS Region V Regional Director and the CMS Center for Medicaid & CHIP Services Deputy Center Director; as the Associate Regional Administrator for the Division of Medicaid and Children’s Health Operations and the Division of Medicare Operations; and as the Region III Regional Administrator. Johnson holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University.
