News News & Press News South Dakota Awards Medicaid Contract South Dakota Awards Medicaid Contract Publish Date 07/18/2008 Author CNSI The South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) has awarded CNSI the contract for design, development and implementation of New Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). The multi-million dollar, multi-year agreement calls for CNSI to develop and implement the new system, which will replace the current system developed more than 30 years ago. Once implemented, the new system will be owned and operated by the department."Our goal is to develop a new system that will enable the department to better manage Medicaid operations and will serve over 102, 000 Medicaid recipients in our state, " said Governor M. Michael Rounds. "CNSI has been selected to play a critical role in the successful development and implementation of a new management system in South Dakota."Another key partner is the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The federal government will pay 90 percent of the costs as they have for similar projects in other states. According to DSS Secretary Deb Bowman, "Both the federal and state government recognize the long term benefit to taxpayers to have a MMIS that is efficient and able to support current and future management needs."
